TEDxRochester 2010 – Bridging the Digital Divide

with 2 comments

It usually takes me more than three weeks to prepare a good impromptu speech.  ~Mark Twain

Truer words were never spoken!   It took me longer to put together the 6 minute slide deck for TEDxRochester than it did to prepare for any of the other talks I gave in 2010.
The good news is that it did get done and I think the presentation went off without a hitch.  I also promised the slides would become available in the Fedora Project wiki in case you’d like to give an encore performance or build it into something bigger and better.
In the TED tradition, the presentations are also available for viewing in case you couldn’t make the event.

  1. Hey

I have been meaning to watch this since you posted it and have finally (thanks to a major flu bug no less!!).

It was a great talk very well presented. Did you get good feedback from the audience?

  2. I did get good feedback. In fact I was stopped in the hallway on the way back from lunch for over 30 minutes. I haven't done much with it since the talk because I've been busy helping my husband get appliedawareness.org off the ground. I've been promoted to business manager (aka maid of all work) so it has been taking a lot of my extra time.

I would love it if others would take the idea of keeping machines locally for a period of time so that local communities can benefit before the machines go off to be broken into components.
